Perry Township Regular Meeting

September 7, 2016

 

Present: Sid Grinnell, Supervisor; Kelly Schmidt, Clerk; Troy Parmalee, Treasurer; Mark Fraser and Frances Griffith, Trustees.

Guests: Patty Fraser, Tom Emery, Jami Cromley.

 

The Supervisor opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.

Agenda approved: Parmalee moved; Fraser seconded. All ayes. Carried.

August 10, 2016 Regular Meeting Minutes was approved: Fraser moved; Griffith seconded. All yes Carried.

Sheriff’s report: 133 calls; 26 traffic stops in August.

SSESA: 15 runs for July, 126 runs in Perry Twp for the year; 987 total SSESA runs for the year.

Recycling: Donations of $209 for August.

CDL: The Perry Library’s new assistant is Tony Moore. The Library’s millage was passed in the Aug. Election. There are new credit card machines in the Perry Library. Jami Cromley gave the CDL’s annual report.

Financial Statement & Pay the Bills approved: Fraser moved; Griffith seconded. Roll Call: Grinnell, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee. All ayes Carried.

Correspondence: The Shiawassee Conservation District will be hosting an Electronics Recycling Collection on Sat., Sept. 24, 2016; 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Chippewa Trail, Owosso just north of VG’s in Owosso.

 

Unfinished Business: None

New Business:

  • ·         Adam Elsesser applied for a variance request for a LED electronic changeable image sign. It is the recommendation and opinion of Township Board that by not allowing this type of sign would be an economic disadvantage since there are multiple signs of this type in the area. A letter will be submitted to the County Zoning Board of Appeals.
  • ·         The Supervisor requested to attend a training session called “Emerging issues in emergency services”. Fraser moved; Parmalee seconded to allow the Supervisor to attend this training in the amount of $101 on October 21, 2016. Roll Call: Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee, Grinnell, Fraser. All ayes Carried.
