Perry Township Regular Meeting
June 7, 2017
Present: Mark Fulks, Supervisor; Kelly Schmidt, Clerk; Troy Parmalee, Treasurer; Mark Fraser and Francis Griffith, Trustees.
Guests: Teri Crook, Michael Morgan, Duane Wood.
The Supervisor opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.
Agenda Approved: Parmalee moved; Fraser seconded. Carried.
May 3, 2017 Meeting Minutes approved: Parmalee moved; Griffith seconded. Carried.
Sheriff’s Report: 185 calls in Perry Twp for May; 56 traffic stops.
SSESA: 15 runs in Perry Twp; 93 runs for the year; Total SSESA runs for the year 587.
Recycling: There was $165 in donations for May. After many attempts to curb inappropriate dumping of trash in the recycling dumpsters, the Recycling Board has made the decision to remove the cardboard recycling dumpster. The Recycling area will be closed until July 1 for cleanup of the area, then reopened with only the “single stream” recycling dumpster that will accept qualified plastics, tin and newspaper. You may call Perry Twp 625-4597 or the City of Perry 625-6155 for qualified items that can be recycled.
Library: New summer programs will be starting at the local libraries. Ask the libraries what you library card can do for you this summer at other libraries in the state.
Financial Statement and Pay the Bills: Fraser moved; Fulks seconded. Roll Call: Fulks, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee. All ayes Carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None
- · The Township received a request to purchase a non-buildable parcel on Ruess Rd. that we acquired through State Tax Sale for delinquent taxes. #014-16-100-013-08. The offer was made by Teri Crook (owner of adjacent parcel) in the amount of $1000. Fraser moved; Fulks seconded to sell said parcel as a Quit Claim Deed with the buyer to pay for all costs including title insurance, fees, recording fee and any other fees that may arise. Buyer is required to combine parcels 014-16-100-013-08 and 014-16-100-014 into one to create a conforming lot. Roll Call: Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser. All ayes Carried.
- · The Township will be switching our phone and internet service to Day Starr Communication. The proposal was approved for a 3 year period with a onetime $800 fee for extending the fiber optic network south. This is a savings of $1704/year. Parmalee moved; Fraser seconded. Roll Call: Schmidt, Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser, Griffith. All ayes Carried.
- · The purchase of new ceiling tiles and painting of ceiling grids for the Township Hall was approved not to exceed $5000. Parmalee moved; Fulks seconded. Roll Call: Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt. All ayes Carried.
