VILLAGE OF MORRICE, MICHIGAN

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE VILLAGE OF MORRICE:

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Election will be held for the Village of Morrice on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Perry Township Hall 2770 W. Ellsworth Rd., Perry, MI from 7:00am-8:00pm.

 

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Village of Morrice will be voting on the following millage proposal as presented and listed below:

VILLAGE OF MORRICE

STREET MILLAGE PROPOSAL

Shall the Village of Morrice levy an additional two mills ($2.00 per $1,000.00) on taxable value of property located in the Village of Morrice, in accordance with the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution. The millage shall be levied for five years beginning with the 2018 tax levy year and running through the 2022 tax year (inclusive). If approved and levied in its entirety, the millage will raise, in the first year of such levy, estimated revenue of $27,676.00 to be used solely for the specific purpose of providing Street Replacement, Repair, and Maintenance within the Village limits. This would be the authorization of a new additional millage.

As required by law, a portion of the millage may also be disbursed to the Downtown Development Authority of the Village of Morrice.

Absentee ballots are available for all elections: registered voters may contact the local clerk to obtain an application for an absent voter ballot. You may vote by absentee ballot if you:

  • Are unable to attend the polls without assistance;
  • Are 60 years of age or older;
  • Expect to be absent from your city or township for the entire time the polls are open on election day;
  • Are in jail, awaiting arraignment or trial;
  • Have been assigned to work as a precinct inspector in a precinct other than where you are registered; or
  • Are unable to attend the polls because of religious beliefs.

 

all electors who are registered with the township clerk in which they reside are eligible to vote at this election. Sample ballots can be found at www.mi.gov/vote. To comply with the Help America Vote (HAVA), voting instructions will be available in audio format and in Braille.  Arrangements for obtaining the instructions in these alternative formats can be made by contacting the township clerk in advance of the election.  All polling locations are accessible for voters with disabilities.
