The meeting was opened with the pledge to the flag and all board members were present.
Public Comments: Bacigal presented a letter that opposed his ambulance millage being levied. Price asked for clarification on the County Emergency Plan. Sheffield thanked Force & Andrus for their service to the township as Trustees and those present agreed and gave them an ovation.
Parmalee moved, second by Andrus to approve the October minutes with correction of the spelling of Grinnell. Carried
Dep. Day reported there were 215 incidents in the township last month. 86 were traffic stops and 24 were car/deer incidents.
No SSESA or DDA report. Zoning had 1 building permit, 1 variance, & 1 violation.
Michalek moved, second by Andrus to approve the financial statement and pay the bills. All ayes
Comm. Pavlica presented the adopted County 2009 budget. They approved a tenth of a mill for Veteran’s and the money stays in Shiawassee County. Renovation has begun on the Historic Court House.
Supervisor attended a SATA meeting where they discussed a rate schedule for riders.
One bid for snow removal was received from Bob Freed for $40 per hour. Andrus moved, second by Michalek to accept the bid for both the cemetery & township hall. All ayes
Cemetery: There have genealogy workers at the cemetery. Freed also bid $500 to remove the cedar trees. Parmalee moved, second by Force to accept the Freed’s bid. All ayes. The Clerk is to call Scepka to see when they plan on working on the schoolhouse building.
Attorney Smith advised the board there are 2 things that can be done about the default on renovation of the schoolhouse building at the Cemetery. We can make a complaint to the licensing division of the State, but they may do nothing. Or we could bring suit against the contractor. Parmalee moved, second by Andrus to have the attorney sent a certified letter stating the amount due to us is $7,019 & to pursue with contacting the licensing division. Carried
It was suggested we obtain a performance bond for any future projects.
Church Rd. ditching is done as well as the hydro seeding.
Andrus moved, second by Parmalee to approve form L-4029 tax rate request to be sent to the County. All ayes
Parmalee moved, second by Michalek to sent board members, spouses, & deputies to the MTA annual dinner on Nov. 18 at a cost of $11 person. All ayes
Parmalee moved, second by Michalek to send board member & deputies to the MTA convention in January. Cost of registration is $235 for early registration. All ayes. Parmalee moved, second by Andrus to sent new officials to training in Dec. 4th or at the Convention. All ayes
Andrus moved, second by Michalek to approve the budget amendments for 2008-2009 #1. All ayes
Parmalee moved, second by Michalek to adopt the resolution terminating the abatement agreement with Custom Cast Stone. All ayes
