Perry Township Regular Meeting

Board present: Sidney Grinnell, Supervisor; Sandra Michalek, Clerk; Troy Parmalee, Treasurer; Patsy Force & Beth Andrus, Trustees
Guests: Pat Stiff; Dori Boertman; Peg Michalek; Kathy McGraw; Guy Hubbard; Dep. Lawson & Dep. Cicalo

Meeting opened with pledge to the flag and all board was present for roll call.

Andrus moved, second by Michalek to approve the agenda.  Carried.

Parmalee moved, second by Grinnell to approve the Sept. 17th minutes.  Carried

Dep. Lawson introduced his supervisor, Jerry Cicalo.  He reported 218 events in Perry Twp.  104 were traffic stops.

Chief Hubbard just came from a barn fire and said there is suspected arson in the area with a number of barn fires in the county.  Perry Twp. had 14 ambulance or fire calls in August, with a total of 151 so far this year.

DDA is waiting for an Attorney General’s opinion to overturn the DEQ rule.

The Assessor reported 2 lot splits on the Houlihan property on Morrice Rd.

James Sanderson will be starting a Debris Management Plan for the county.

Parmalee presented the financial statement.  Andrus moved, second by Michalek to approve the statement and pay the bills.  All ayes

Rowe Engineering is having a seminar for updating a master plan.  The Planning Comm. has been sent the brochure and the seminar is free.

Bids on Ruppert/Ellsworth Rd. project:  Parmalee moved, second by Andrus to accept the bid of Smith Sand and Gravel of $3,133.88 to do the work.  All ayes

Perpetual Care Fund was discussed to pay for the old building.  We could use the $5,000 CD and lot sales money.  Andrus moved, second by Grinnell to use whatever money that is not in a CD or Treasury bonds first, and then from the CD to pay for the building.  All ayes

Parmalee moved, second by Michalek to have the Clerk advertise for snow removal bids.  Carried

Parmalee has been researching tax payments on line.  BS&A have the ability to accept tax payments on line with a credit card or an electronic checking account.  There is no cost to the township but there is a fee to property owners for using this service.  Andrus moved, second by Michalek to approve the resolution as presented by Parmalee.  All ayes

Parmalee moved, second by Andrus to contract with BS&A to accept official payments by electronic transactions.  All ayes.

Parmalee moved, second by Grinell to let the Clerk dispose of the old cement mixer.  Carried.

Parmalee move, second by Michalek to adjourn the meeting.  Carried
