Perry Township Regular Meeting

Board Present: Sidney Grinnell, Supervisor; Sandra Michalek, Clerk; Troy Parmalee, Treasurer; Patsy Force & Elizabeth Andrus, Trustees

Guests: Jim Smith, Attorney; Pat Stiff; Dep. Mark Schmidt; Scott Smith; Sue Hammond; Peggy Michalek; Chris Price; Renita Mikolajczyk, Justin Horvath, Brent Jones, SEDP; Comm. Jaime Pavlica; Travis & Kyle Smith; Deana Finnegan; Tony Newman; John Michalec; Dori Boertman; Kathy McGraw

The Supervisor opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag and all board members were present at roll call.

Parmalee moved, second by Michalek to approve the agenda. Carried

Andrus moved, second by Parmalee to approve the August minutes with corrections that the ambulance assessment is .6 of a mill and Parmalee seconded the motion.  Carried

Dep. Schmidt
reported 194 incidents in Perry Twp.  86 are traffic stops.  He said there are a number of breaking & entering incidents in the area so lock your doors.

SSESA
:  There were 22 calls in Perry Twp. in July and 137 to date this year.

Comm. Pavlica
reported the County budget decreased and had cuts in all departments.  Pete Preston is the new head of the Co. Community Development Dept.

Candidates present
: Deana Finnegan, Shia. Co. Sheriff; Tony Newman, Drain Comm.; and John Michalec, Road Commissioner.

Michalek moved, second by Grinnell to approve the Financial Statement and pay the bills.  All ayes

Audit:  Michalek moved, second by Force to approve the audit as presented from Demis & Wenzlick.  All ayes.

Michalek moved, second by Grinnell to concur with the Planning Commission and recommend the three-year conditional zoning extension of the Taylor property. Grinnell, Michalek, & Parmalee, yes; Andrus & Force, no.  Carried

Cemetery Pole Barn electricity
installation bids. Parmalee moved, second by Andrus to accept the bid of R.H. Electric for $905 and to spend up to $100 for outside lighting.  All ayes. 

Cemetery gravel
:  Andrus moved, second by Force to accept the bid of $2200 for gravel.  All ayes

There were two custodian applications.  Parmalee moved, second by Michalek to hire Robert Freed starting at $10.50 an hour as custodian.  All ayes

Church Rd. tree project
bids:  Andrus moved, second by Force to accept the bid of $1,000 for Freed to cut the trees and $1,500 for D. O’Berry to dig & bury the stumps.  All ayes

Cemetery Hinkley School building
: Attorney Smith has sent Mr. DeLau a letter stating he had 2 weeks to begin working on the building and 1 week to complete or we would rebid the project and if the cost of completion exceed the costs that would have been an obligation to him, then we will look to Mr. DeLau for the difference.  Andrus moved, second by Parmalee, that if Mr. DeLau doesn’t finish the job to let bids for completion and they will be due in 2 weeks.  All ayes.

Ruppert/Ellsworth Rd
. drain project bids tabled.

There will be a special meeting on Sept. 17th at 7 pm at the township hall.

Michalek moved, second by Parmalee to adjourn.  Carried
