Perry Township Regular Meeting
March 11, 2015
Present: Sid Grinnell, Supervisor; Kelly Schmidt, Clerk; Troy Parmalee, Treasurer; Mark Fraser and Francis Griffith, Trustees.
Guests: Darlene Parks, Duane Wood, Kevin Feuka, Ben Frederick, Guy Hubbard, Beverly Vandenberg, Tom Emery, Tom Chaput.
The Supervisor opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.
Agenda approved with additions. Parmalee moved; Fraser seconded. Carried
February minutes approved. Fraser moved; Parmalee seconded. Carried
Comments: Ben Frederick shared information about the Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity Neighborhood Revitalization 2015 program. If interested call (844) 721-8038.
Sheriff Report: 124 calls; 55 traffic stops in the Township.
SSESA: 10 runs in Jan; 28 runs in Perry Twp; Total SSESA runs for the year 143. There will be a question on the May ballot requesting a renewal of the previously authorized millage. This is not a tax increase. A new engine has been ordered and will be available by the end of spring.
Recycling: Donations were $300.
Library: The DVD’s have been moved to the front of the library due to thefts. New Lothrop Library to get new furniture through donations.
Parks & Rec: Language will be submitted to the state for review to make sure the proposed lease agreement will be eligible for grants for the park.
Planning Comm: The Committee met with Doug Piggot regarding updating the Land Use Plan. There is some concern with the communication with the county planning commission.
Financial statements and bills paid. Fraser moved; Griffith seconded to approve. Roll Call: Grinnell, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee. All ayes Carried
Correspondence: We received a letter from the Mosquito Squad. If interested in their services call 844-667-7823 for more information.
- There is an outstanding bill from C2AE for engineering services provided for the Lansing Road Water Extension Project. Out of fairness to C2AE we have agreed to pay half of the bill contingent on the City of Perry to pay the other half. Parmalee moved; Griffith seconded. Roll Call: Grinnell, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee. All ayes Carried
- There was discussion regarding TWP Planning Comm. members serving on the County Planning Comm. board as well. MTA was contacted to verify that there was no conflict of interest. The TWP Board recommended that rules be written in the By-Laws addressing the service on both committees and that the TWP member must not hold a chair or vice chair position when serving on the County’s Planning Commission.
- The TWP Board accepted the resignation letter of Thomas Emery for the DDA Board due to his acceptance of the TWP legal representation position.
- The 2015 Board of Review heard 4 property tax issues on Mon. and had no attendees on Tues.
