Regular Meeting Minutes

September 4, 2019


Present: Mark Fulks, Supervisor; Kelly Schmidt, Clerk; Troy Parmalee, Treasurer; Mark Fraser and Frances Griffith, Trustees.

Guests: Duane Wood, Sheriff Brian Begole, and Com. John Plowman


The Supervisor opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.

The agenda was approved. Fraser moved; Parmalee seconded. All ayes Carried.

The August 7, 2019 minutes was approved. Parmalee moved; Griffith seconded. All ayes Carried.


Sheriff’s report: 187 calls in the Township, with 59 traffic stops.

SSESA: 23 runs for the month; 164 runs in Perry Township for the year and 1018 total SSESA runs for the year.

Co. Comm: Plowman gave highlights of the Co. and announced the retirement of the Co. Treasurer. The Co. audit came back with A+. The Co. budget draft will be ready by Oct. 1st. A new financial director has been hired. The Co. parks have been full all summer. The County Comm. will be having a hearing Oct. 10th to discuss increasing  the Road Commission board from 3 members to 5. 127,000 tons of gravel has been dropped on the Co. roads and 24 ½ miles of roads has been black topped.

The financial statement was approved to pay the bills. Fraser moved; Griffith seconded. Roll Call: Fulks, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee. All ayes Carried.

Public Comment: Sheriff Begole reported an EF0 tornado went through New Lothrop. 7 homes and numerous buildings were damaged with no injuries. The Emergency manager has resigned. The Jail Garden has produced 13,000 lbs of vegetables. The jail has filled their freezers to help feed the inmates and have provided fresh vegetables to 27 food banks.

  • ·         The Board approved up to $1800 to upgrade the computer system to have a Township server. The server will back up the BSA Tax, Assessing, Cemetery programs and the Quick books program. Half to be paid out of the tax fund, a quarter from cemetery perpetual care and a quarter from the general fund. Griffith moved; Fraser seconded. Roll Call: Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser. All ayes Carried.
  • ·         The Board approved additional road patrol on M-52 not to exceed $2500 for one month and the Sheriff Office report back at the next Board meeting. Parmalee moved; Fraser seconded. Roll Call: Schmidt, Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser, Griffith. All ayes Carried
