Regular Meeting Minutes

October 9, 2019

 

Present: Mark Fulks, Supervisor; Kelly Schmidt, Clerk; Troy Parmalee, Treasurer; Mark Fraser and Frances Griffith, Trustees.

Guests: Lt. Cory Carson

 

The Supervisor opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.

The agenda was approved with corrections. Parmalee moved; Fraser seconded. All ayes Carried.

The September 4, 2019 minutes were approved. Parmalee moved; Griffith seconded. All ayes Carried.

 

Sheriff’s report: 251 calls in the Township, with 141 traffic stops. Lt. Carson reported on the increased traffic control on M-52 from September 4th to October 4th.  There were 160 traffic stops, 154 tickets written with 6 warnings. The average speed calculated was 67 mph.

SSESA: 16 runs for the month; 180 runs in Perry Township for the year and 1157 total SSESA runs for the year.

DDA: The DDA held a special meeting to approve partial payment to Consumers Energy for the lights down Lansing Rd. The next meeting will be Oct 16, 2019 at 6:30pm.

The financial statement was approved to pay the bills. Schmidt moved; Fraser seconded to approve. Roll Call: Fulks, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee. All ayes Carried.

  • ·        None

NEW BUSINESS:

  • ·        The Township Board appointed Stacey Matthews to the DDA board to fill a vacancy term ending on March 31, 2023. Fulks moved; Schmidt seconded. Roll Call: Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser. All ayes Carried.
  • ·        Supervisor Fulks requested to attend a Construction Law for Public Projects seminar in the amount of $289.00 on Nov. 13. Parmalee moved; Fraser seconded. Roll Call: Schmidt, Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser, Griffith. All ayes Carried.
  • ·        The 2019-2020 Snow Removal contract was extended at the same rate as last year with Freed of Work. Parmalee moved; Griffith seconded. Roll Call: Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt. All ayes Carried.
  • ·        The MTA Annual Dinner will be held at Bennington Township on Nov. 5, 2019 for $9 per person. All members of the Board and their significant others was approved. Schmidt moved; Parmalee seconded. Roll Call: Fulks, Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee. All ayes Carried.
  • ·        The 2018-2019 Audit report was presented by Treasurer Parmalee. The Township is in good standing. Fulks moved; Fraser seconded to accept the Audit report. Roll Call: Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee, Fulks, Fraser. All ayes Carried.
  • ·        MTA is offering a class called Defining your Townships Land Use Future on Nov. 19 in the amount of $125/person. The Board will designate and approve 2 people from the planning Commission to attend. Parmalee moved; Griffith seconded. Roll Call: Fraser, Griffith, Schmidt, Parmalee, Fulks. All ayes Carried.
  • ·        The Board also recommends that all members of the planning commission attend the Rowe Fall 2019 CEES presentation on planning commission best practices.
